Please meet our Pro Bono Client. Debora is from Brazil and came to the United States in 2016. Shortly after she became a permanent resident, Debora joined the US Army in 2021. As part of our commitment to support our troops, we took Debora’s citizenship case on Pro Bono basis (at no charge). This year in August, we prepared and filed Debora’s expedited citizenship application based on her military service. In little more than 2 months, Debora was naturalized and became a US citizen! Within a short span of time, I.S. Law Firm secured approvals of O-1 visa for 5 professional fencing coaches, including a professional fencing coaches (maestro) from Italy, Ukraine, UK, China, and Republic of Georgia. Our clients, local US fencing clubs, invited these professional fencing coaches from around the world to train the young US fencers for participation in national and international competitions. We are delighted to secure approval of O-1 petitioner for every fencing coach whose case we handled.
One of recent cases which I.S. Law Firm successfully secured a grant of asylum for our client was the case of a Syrian family. The applicant belonged to the family of a political activist, who was against the Assad regime for decades. Their entire family was persecuted in Syria for years.
Our firm secured a non-immigrant waiver of alleged misrepresentation-based inadmissibility, for a B1/B2 visa applicant. The applicant’s visitor’s visa was initially granted, but later revoked under INA under 212(a)(6)(c)(1) due to misrepresentation. The family was hopeless and came to us for help. We refiled the visa application with a request for INA 212(d)(3)(A) waiver. In our waiver application, we described the reasons of alleged misrepresentation and enclosed affidavits and letters from the related persons who helped the applicant to file his previous DS-160 form.
I.S. Law Firm secured a grant of asylum for a Nepalese political activist through the immigration court proceedings. Since 1990s, Nepal had been undergoing radical political transformation. Our client was a political activist since 2006, when people opposing Nepal’s Communist Party (Maoist) insurgency were under risk due to excessive violence against them by Maoists throughout the country.

At the close of the trial, Judge Kenney sided with the family, and denied discharge to the bankrupt party. This means that our clients will be able to pursue their claim and attempt to recover the money they lost, despite the fact that the perpetrator filed for bankruptcy.

On February 27, 2013, I.S. Law Firm secured approval of E-2 status for an investor in a convenience store business. In securing approval of the petition, we overcame the request for evidence asking for a variety of documents, mostly to prove legal source of funds.

Law Firm secured approval of H-1B work visa for an employee of a small home-based business.In securing this approval, we overcame a request for evidence that was questioning the validity of employment based on the fact that the petitioning organization was a small home-based company. In our response to the request for evidence, we argued that the regulations do not require that the place of employment be a non-residential dwelling. Plenty of U.S. businesses are based in the owner’s residence.
